Client charged with 2 domestic violence offenses. Risk = up to 6 months jail, 3 years probation, $2,500 fine plus surcharge, mandatory domestic violence counseling, loss of gun rights. Convinced prosecution to offer pre-plea diversion (dismissal if client took and completed a substance abuse counseling program). Client completed program, was very positive about what he learned, and prosecution dismissed case. A very good outcome for everyone involved.
