Victim in DUI car collision requested over $156,000 in criminal restitution from client, after conviction. Told prosecutor that client was offering a generous settlement amount, which victim declined. Told prosecutor victim should reconsider, as she could walk away with nothing. But, victim didn’t listen. Restitution hearing held in court over 6 months. Final judgment of court – claim for $156,000 denied for insufficient proof of damages. Client very happy.
